Poetry Reading with Roger Boylan

Roger Boylan is a published novelist, essayist, and critic and will be giving a reading Saturday night at Ike’s. Boylan has appeared in many journals and reviews, including The New York Times, The Economist, and Context. He is on the faculty of Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, Connecticut, as a lecturer in creative writing. His work, Killoyle, has been recognized as one of the “100 funniest works of fiction”.

Poetry Night with Kim Christoff + $3 Pints & Sangria

Mark your calendar Friday night for a poetry reading with Kim Christoff. Her poems have been sung by musicians including Alejandro Escovedo, Charlie Sexton, Nick Tremulis, and John Cale from the Velvet Underground. Composer Stephen Barber arranged seven of her poems into a song cycle for performance by mezzo soprano Lucy Schuafer of the NY and LA Metropolitan operas. Her poems have been widely published.

Kim is also a gifted photographer and will be showing some of her photos the night of the reading.

Happy Hour will also be extended through Friday night – that means $3 pints of beer and sangria. All night.

The event will consist of a series of 5 short films, listed below, ending with Von Miller’s own, “Self-Help”. Join us in our first-ever film night and see what Austin cinema has to offer! Films begin at 7pm and the event is totally FREE.

Poetry Night with Corinne Lee

Ike’s was honored to have author/poet Corinne Lee for a reading this weekend. Corinne was the winner of the “2005 National Poetry Series” and recently chosen to have her work appear in “The Best American Poetry, 2010″ anthology. Her latest novel, “Pyx”, received excellent reviews which can be read here. Come out an support your local artists, brings some friends, and have some drinks with us! This event is free for all.

Wine and Dine Your Valentine!

Over 40 people dined at Ike’s on Saturday evening for an exclusive 4-course gourmet dinner with wine pairings. Menu included fried ravioli, french onion soup, chicken cordon bleu, baked salmon, bourbon carrots, flan, a warm chocolate brownie with vanilla Blue Bell, and more. The event was a huge success and we hope to host more in the future. Many thanks to our chefs, for the biggest night this kitchen has seen.
